Overview
Boston Area Math Specialists (BAMS) is a professional network of educators, coaches, and math leaders committed to improving mathematics instruction and equity across the region. The organization supports math specialists through professional development, events, and knowledge sharing.
Planet Lobo was brought in to refresh the BAMS brand and help create a more modern, professional identity that better represented its community-driven purpose.
Goals
Create a flexible, recognizable logo system for the BAMS network
Reflect professionalism and approachability in the education space
Provide visual tools that could be used across email, slide decks, and future web content
Keep the design grounded in math education without feeling overly institutional

Outcome
BAMS now has a clean, modern logo system that honors its purpose: supporting math leaders with clarity and care. The identity is easy to apply across formats whether on email banners, event slides, or membership communications and gives the organization a stronger visual presence in the regional education space.
What made it special
This project was about designing for a community of experts, not just an audience. The visuals needed to signal professionalism, collaboration, and warmth without falling into generic academic design. We kept it math-rooted, but people-centered.
