Overview
For this confidential healthcare project, Planet Lobo collaborated with a major pharmaceutical company to support the launch of a new treatment. The goal was to create a highly human-centered visual story around breakthrough pain research told through the eyes of real patients and caregivers.
Working in close collaboration with documentary photographer Leoni Marinovich, we helped translate deeply emotional interviews and imagery into a compelling 48-page photo book and supporting collateral, including a timeline of pain treatment evolution, immersive visual storytelling, and a shippable exhibition experience.
Goals
Design a long-format publication that bridges clinical science with human experience
Support the client’s internal and public-facing launch with emotionally intelligent storytelling
Create a timeline of treatment innovation through visual collage and design
Deliver branded materials that feel polished, sensitive, and high-impact
What we did
Photo book design (48 pages) in collaboration with the photographer
Infographic-style timeline with layered collage storytelling
Vellum overlay page with full project credits and contributors
Exhibition in a box concept: shippable signage + display materials
Supporting digital and print graphics for internal rollout and communications

Outcome
The photo book and accompanying visuals helped the client showcase the human side of innovation making the science tangible and emotionally resonant. The vellum overlay page served as a quiet tribute to the many contributors, reinforcing the collaborative heart behind the work.
This project stands as a model for how art, research, and design can come together in healthcare communication and how visual storytelling can honor both data and dignity.
What made it special
This project was about amplifying unheard voices, and making scientific advancement feel human, timely, and hopeful. Our role wasn’t just design it was translation across teams, tone, and disciplines. The combination of documentary photography, collage timelines, and layered materials like vellum created a tactile experience that matched the emotional weight of the story being told.
